MEET YOUR NEIGHBOUR

We extend our warmest invitation to participate in a unique and enlightening experience hosted by IDI Kitchener-Waterloo. This program aims to cultivate greater awareness and understanding of the traditions, cultures, and lifestyles of our neighbours. The program offers participants the opportunity to partake in the sacred observances of various faiths in an intimate family setting, complete with a home-cooked meal. This firsthand experience provides an ideal backdrop for gaining a deeper appreciation of other faiths and cultures.

We encourage you to seize this occasion to explore something new and enriching. Perhaps you have heard of lent or are familiar with its religious connotations, but have you ever had the chance to break bread with a family observing this tradition? CHRISTIANITY

ISLAM

IWith over 1.8 billion followers, Islam is the world’s second-largest religion and the fastest-growing major religion, according to its teachings. As an Abrahamic monotheistic religion, it emphasizes the existence of only one God, Allah, and considers Muhammad as His messenger. Adherents to Islam, known as Muslims, comprise 24.1% of the global population.

JUDAISM

Judaism, which traces its roots to the ancient Hebrew tribe of Judah (Yehudah in Hebrew), is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the teachings of the Torah, its foundational text. It encompasses the religion, philosophy, and culture of the Jewish people, spanning centuries of history.

HINDUISM

Hinduism, a way of life and Dharma widely observed in South Asia, is considered by some scholars and practitioners to be the oldest religion in the world. Known as Sanātana Dharma, or “the eternal tradition,” it is believed to transcend human history and endure indefinitely.
